Digital Ocean 1 Click

Hi all, I am one of the noobs trying to install this via Digital ocean but have run into a little issue.

I have got ther app installed as per instructions. I read the note of not beaing able to create a new database because of the digital ocean dev database so I have tried to connect the database that was automatically added while following the 1 click install.

So far I thought I was doing ok. However I have got stuck at the "Role Name" does this need to be a specific format when entering? I tried CONNECT, CREATE

Aftter this I get the error "BadInstallationTarget: Mathesar can't be installed in the internal database."

I have a feeling there is something simple I am missing.

Hi @kwa11ace,you can't actually connect to the internal database in the Mathesar UI, like you're trying to do. This would result in you storing your data alongside Mathesar's internal data which could lead to problems.

If you don't already have an existing database outside of your Mathesar 1-click installation, you'll need to upgrade your Digital Ocean database as described in our docs.

This is a quirk of DigitalOcean's "dev" databases and the fact that they do not allow instantiation of a proper, non-dev database from their 1-click templates.
