Portals are black and no ray tracing is visible

I installed both the base pack and the p2-rtx mod twice, both times show me the Alt+x menu, but I my title bar stays as Portal 2 - Direct 3D 9

are you launching via the "run-p2-rtx.bat"

Last I remember, I was using the batch file's parameters inside of steam. Though I do remember running it by the bat and it not working.

That fix didn't work for me.

Had the same issue on a fresh Win11 install.

bin/dxwrapper-portal2.log was showing that p2-rtx.dll was not loading.
Debugging dll loading showed d3dx9_43.dll needed by p2-rtx.dll was missing.

Installing legacy DirectX dlls from Microsoft fixes it: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35
